MagRelease Install directions:
1. Remove the screws that hold the flags and/or brackets to the back of the board.
2. Remove the foam from the board
3. If there are rivets holding the original release on the board, drill them out with an 1/8th inch drill bit or remove the factory hardware
4. Install the MagRelease Pro with the included hardware
5. Reinstall the foam and reassemble the board
Setup Instructions:
1. Let the lure out to the desire depth
2. Rear clip setup – Use pin style clip or MagRelease Rear Clip
a. Without flags
i. attach rear clip
b. With flags
i. connect flag clip (flag clip must be the closest to the lure)
ii. Leave a 6” loop in the line
iii. Connect the rear clip
3. Install the Release –
a. Open the arm of the MagRelease Pro
b. Feed the line through the grove in the release
c. Close the arm
4. Deploy – Send the board out
5. Release - The board will release with a sharp tug of the rod
Tips and tricks –
1. The MagRelease does not have an actual tension adjustment, but you can reduce the tension on the arm for running lighter tackle by placing a small piece of electrical tap between the magnets. Each layer of electrical tape reduces the tension by ~ 1#.
2. When deploying the boards, a light tension should be kept on the line.
3. When releasing the boards, keep the tip of the rod as close to the water as possible.
4. Weight adjustments of the boards may be required. The boards should run level or slightly tip up. (a nose heavy board will submarine and cause unexpectedly releases)
